Hey friend,
It's been a while.
I'm sorry I haven't called, but you know how life is.
Things start rolling.
Life keeps pushing.
Dinner needs cooking.
The bathroom needs...using...?
People keep coming.
Adventure keeps calling.
But the good news is I'm not dead!
I didn't drown in a sea of 350,000 people in Indianapolis.
I didn't crash the Corvette at 120mph.
I didn't get hit by any formula one cars careening out of control at the race.
I didn't get slapped by a girl (or beat up by her boyfriend) when I asked about her butt tattoo.
I didn't fall from a three-story driving range at Top Golf.
My plane, even though it was like an Indiana Jones ride, didn't crash amidst the storms.
It was a close call, but my car didn't get destroyed by a distracted *cough*Asian*cough* driver.
And I haven't been stabbed in my sleep by the many strangers I let stay in my apartment.
So all in all, outside of not writing here for weeks, I'd say life has been pretty dang grand.
Isn't it funny how when you focus on all the good things that have happened (and sometimes those good things are just a lack of bad things), life feels better?
I was thinking about this today while serving sand dabs and mashed potatoes.
You will always find something to complain about. Always.
Life isn't easy – and if it was I don't think it would be very fun.
But even though we might not be able to control all the circumstances in our lives, we CAN choose how we respond to them. In reality, that's the only difference between an optimist and a pessimist. You get to choose how you see things.
So yes, even though it's been a while since I've said hello, know that I'm living life and looking at the brighter side. And I'm hoping to remedy this whole long-time-between-writings situation starting....well...now.
Because now is better than never.
Keep being the awesome.
And keep checking in from time to time.
Stay classy,
Sam
